Women’s Health Services

Get tested and treated for UTIs at Newline Pharmacy–no appointment or referral needed.

  • This service is currently available to female patients aged 16-64 who are not pregnant. The UTI must be uncomplicated, so if you have symptoms like flank pain or systemic illness associated with UTI symptoms, please contact 111 instead.

  • Common UTI symptoms include burning/stinging when weeing, needing to go more often or more urgently, and cloudy urine.

  • Phone up your nearest Newline location to speak with the pharmacist and arrange a time for you to come in. If it’s urgent, feel free to walk in to any location and ask for this service at the counter. You will then meet with the pharmacist for a consultation where they will ask you questions about what symptoms you have.

  • If your symptoms indicate you have a urine infection, the pharmacist will be able to prescribe you a suitable treatment and give you instructions for how to take it. If your symptoms indicate something else may be going on or that you don't need any treatment, you will be informed and signposted to resources in case your symptoms change or worsen.

Emergency contraception when you need it.

All of our pharmacies provide EllaOne and Levonelle emergency contraception pills, which can be used up to 120 hours and 72 hours respectively after the last episode of unprotected sex in ages 16+. Walk in to any of our pharmacies and ask for “EHC” or a morning after pill and you will be offered a private consultation to discuss options for your individual circumstances. Eligibility to receive this service and the medications for free varies based on council area so please enquire in branch. If you have any questions about this service please contact us.

Contraception and Menstrual Care

  • Norethisterone is a medicine that can be used to control when your period starts. Many people use this to delay the start of their period for important events, such as holidays, travel, religious events, or family celebrations. This tablet is taken three times a day, starting three days before the first expected day of your period. The tablets are then continued for up to 14 days. Menstruation will occur as normal approximately three days after the last day of tablets.

Available under our private service after a free consultation with the following prices:

    19.99 for 30 tablets (10 days)

    24.99 for 42 tablets (14 days)

Available for age 16 years and up. Please note that this does not act as birth control.

  • Under our private service, walk-in or call ahead for a free consultation with our pharmacist regarding menstrual pain. Based on your symptoms we may be able to offer naproxen, a prescription-only painkiller that is thought to be more effective for severe period pain than paracetamol or ibuprofen.

    Available for ages 16-50.
